
Marilyn Link, Edwin Link’s sister, is currently “majoring in golf.” She has been managing director of the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution and is now the membership chairman at Vero Beach Country Club.
Do you know anyone who has a Master’s Degree in education, a pilot’s license, a natural talent for money management, a wicked backhand and a respectable golf handicap?
Marilyn Link has had them all. She is the retired managing director of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution and an active special advisor to the Link Foundation. She has lived in Vero Beach since 1974, and aviation and aquanautics genius Edwin Link, designer of the Harbor Branch Johnson Sea-Links, was her brother.
She recalls that she was working for Hughes Airwest airline, now part of Northwest, in New York City when Ed told her that he and Seward Johnson, Sr. needed some management help for their new undertaking in Florida. Link was providing the technical expertise at the fledgling Harbor Branch, Johnson the funds and scientific oversight when Marilyn stepped in to coordinate their efforts.
