It’s July and it’s hot outside. Traffic jams around Vero Beach are nonexistent, restaurant reservations are readily available, afternoon showers are inevitable and school is out.
Yet some children can’t wait for their favorite classes to begin. These are the kids enrolled in one of Riverside Children’s Theatre’s summer programs. Instead of splashing about in a pool, going to the movies or playing video games, hordes of kids from ages 5 to 17 are inside the Agnes Wahlstrom Youth Playhouse and the Anne Morton Theatre exploring their creativity through the theatre arts.
Parents have scrimped and saved, done without and borrowed to enable their children to attend this summer program. At least 40 percent of the students are on scholarships.
