Bea Murray knows what it’s like to see a loved one’s mental faculties slowly slip away. Alzheimer’s claimed her 94-year-old mother who lives in a world of her own – one that doesn’t include her daughter. In order to cope with her emotions and learn as much as she could about the disease, Bea found herself knocking on the door of the Alzheimer/Parkinson Association of Indian River County seven years ago.
“I knew I needed help in dealing with it, although until it happened to my mother I wasn’t really aware of Alzheimer’s,” Bea admits. “I remember when the children would come home from college and say Grandma’s acting a little strange, but when you’re with them all the time you just don’t see it.”
