A Bittersweet Transition

It’s been 43 years since George and Sandy Kahle first saw the property destined to become their home. The modest turn-of-the-century farmhouse on Rebel Road in southwest Indian River County wasn’t what appealed; it was the surrounding orange grove, oaks and palms, flowering trumpet and African tulip trees, night blooming cereus, tropical fruit trees, a barn and critters too numerous to name.

Prompted by a love of nature, the young couple knew this was where they wanted to raise their family. Sandy, who grew up in Vero Beach during an era when spending time outdoors provided her with so many magical experiences, viewed it as an opportunity for their children to capture some of their own.

During the years since there have been many magical moments as well as a number of physical changes to the 30-acre farm. Now for sale, it awaits a buyer seeking a place that treasures the outdoor lifestyle – a place with pastures, ponds, rose gardens, citrus trees, two barns, a pool, pool house with attached gazebo, and a board and batten guest cottage.
