Birthday Par-Tee

August 5 is the day for the Mental Health Association in Indian River County’s eighth annual birthday celebration! BigShots Golf (3456 U.S. Hwy. 1) will once again host this evening of food and golf-themed fun. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., guests will enjoy golf, unlimited hot appetizers and soft drinks, a cash bar, a silent auction, raffles, contests, and birthday cake. Tickets for individual golfers are $65, and a team of six can have a private tee box to themselves for $365. If golf isn’t your bag, you can attend the dinner and party for $40. Dance Festival

Ballet Vero Beach and Riverside Theatre are teaming up to welcome Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami to the Waxlax Stage for the Riverside Dance Festival August 6–8. It’s Dimensions’ 10th anniversary, and the troupe will bring its bold, contemporary style and celebrate with the dancers of BVB on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings starting at 7:30. Landscapes & Legends

Vero Beach’s own Jacob Craig will be the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra‘s (SCSO) guest pianist during the ‘Landscapes & Legends’ concert at Community Church of Vero Beach August 16. Craig will play Edward MacDowell’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 23. The other selections to be performed are The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas, Cloud Slant by Kenneth Fuchs, and Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi. 3 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at door, free for those 18 and under and college students (with valid student ID). Discounted tickets are available through Symphony for Everyone program.

Veterans’ Art Classes

The Vero Beach Art Club invites all local veterans and first responders to experience the healing and community-building properties of creative expression. On the third Wednesday of each month (August 19), club members teach free classes that may include painting, drawing, and other art forms. All skill levels are welcome. Classes are held at the Art Club’s Gallery & Marketplace (1903 14th Ave.) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. More information can be found at verobeachartclub.org; for additional questions, call 772-231-0303.
