The Bells had never built a house before, and they give full credit to having the right builder for making their “forever home” a reality.

Lorraine and Stephen Bell never planned to build a house from the ground up. They were happy to let others deal with architectural renderings and construction decisions. When they found the perfect property and the opportunity to create what Lorraine calls their “forever home,” their plans changed, and in a good way.

It’s been said that a home should tell the story of the people who live there, and the Bells’ riverfront residence does just that, thanks to design details that tell of their travels, lifestyle and optimistic outlook.

The first can be seen in the foyer, where a niche showcases the statue of a graceful Apsara dancer the couple purchased in Cambodia. A favorite of theirs, it prompts the first of many tales.

“The statue was made by locals who are rebuilding some of the jungle temples. They had a workshop to one side, and pieces not deemed perfect enough by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) were put up for sale. She looked perfect and called out to me,” Lorraine smiles at the memory.
