The Best of Broadway

AUGUST 10: The glamour of the silver screen comes to life through music in the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra’s The Best of Broadway at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The program features music and footage from such classic films as “South Pacific,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Evita,” “The Producers” and “My Fair Lady.”

Symphony of the Americas’ Summerfest Classical Concert

AUGUST 12: The Cultural Council of Indian River County hosts the 23rd annual Symphony of the Americas’ Summerfest Classical Concert at Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church featuring the Mission Chamber Orchestra of Rome. Under the baton of Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese, the concert includes music from Vivaldi and Sarasate as well as performances by Italian composer and soloist Lorenzo Turchi-Floris and Panama composer Juan Castillo. The event begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 per student.

Scholarship Foundation Football Classic

AUGUST 29: Get ready for some football at the ninth annual Scholarship Foundation Football Classic. Join fellow fans and supporters for a pre-game barbecue dinner under an end-zone tent at the stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m. Then watch the Vero Beach Fighting Indians and the Sebastian Sharks battle it out for bragging rights at the Vero Beach High School Citrus Bowl at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes dinner and the game. Proceeds will help provide need-based college scholarships for Indian River County students.

L.A. Contemporary Dance Company

AUGUST 15-16: Ballet Vero Beach, in partnership with the Riverside Theatre, presents the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company. The professional dance company led by Artistic Director Kate Hutter, returns to Vero Beach to perform a diverse repertoire of modern, ballet and jazz influenced work. Performances take place on the Stark Stage at Riverside Theatre.

Riverside Dance Festival

AUGUST 16: Riverside Children’s Theatre showcases its third annual Riverside Dance Festival featuring the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company. Students participate in a two-week, dance-intensive study through technical classes in ballet and contemporary dance forms as well as master classes and open rehearsals. Students work toward the creation of their own work to be performed alongside L.A. Contemporary Dance Company in a mixed repertory concert to culminate the festival. Performance takes place on the Stark Stage at Riverside Theatre.

Film Music Spectacular

SEPTEMBER 7: The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra performs music from the movies in Film Music Spectacular at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center. The modern film scores include music from “Spiderman,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Jurassic Park” and “Back to the Future.”

Aerial Antics Youth Circus

AUGUST 7-9: The Vero Beach Recreation Department, along with a cast of performing arts students, presents the 40th annual Aerial Antics Youth Circus.

Julie Andrews’ Daughter Stars at Starfest!

January 30: Emma Walton Hamilton, author and daughter of Julie Andrews, was the keynote speaker at Childcare Resources’ Starfest! at Quail Valley River Club.

Sun Up Center’s Road Rally

APRIL 9: Automobile enthusiasts started their engines for Vero’s Road Rally Magnifiqué benefiting the Sun Up Center.
