Leslie Falong always knew that one day she would be working alongside her mother, Nancy Cook, at Twig, a swim and sportswear store on Ocean Drive. After all, she grew up there, learning the ropes, and now her daughter Samantha is doing the same thing.
As children, Meg Offutt, Denise Metz and Diane Jarrell played in the back room at Kemp’s Shoe Salon & Boutique while their mother, Ann Shambora, ran the business that her mother, Dottie Kemp, had started 46 years ago. Now, they are the ones in charge.
Ambie Hay shares more than her mother’s name; she has the same eye for beautiful things. Both owned specialty shops in the Northeast before relocating to Vero Beach. Ambie Jr. opened Azalea’s two years ago, and Ambie Sr. now helps out.
