In The Service of Others
The goal of the Samaritan Center shelter is to reduce the number of homeless families in Indian River County. It does this by helping families move from a state of homelessness to an adequate, self-sustaining living situation. It is the center’s belief that proper parenting and successful independent community living can help prevent the perpetuation of homelessness through future generations.
One family they’ve helped is that of Linda Tyner. With nowhere to go, Linda came to the center determined to make a better life for herself and her two young daughters. In the year she has spent at the center, she has met most of the goals she set for herself. She has diligently worked within the program and met the requirements of a graduate level 4.
