 It began simply as a way for a young girl and her dad to alleviate their boredom n a sunday afternoon but ended up placing the girl's school on the map. 

The girl is Richelle Henf, a fifth grade student at Pelican Island Elementary School in Sebastian. And in the months since that fateful Sunday family outing, Richelle and her 50-plus fellow Eco-troop members have been featured on ABC Nightly News and Shamu TV. National Geographic's Kids World magazine, Nickelodeon's Nick News with Linda Ellerby and PBS Channel 2 have all aired stories about the Eco-troop.

When Richelle first suggested it, Richard Henf envisioned standing in the hot sun throwing peanuts on the ground as the birds tentatively approached them. But being a good father, he acquiesced. And they went.
