What do renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg and the iconic maven of homemaking Martha Stewart have in common? They share a firm belief that success comes from appreciating the talents of people around you, acknowledging that you wouldn’t be where you are today without them.

This year marks 30 years since Elizabeth Kennedy launched her catering business, Elizabeth D. Kennedy & Company in Vero Beach; and she, too, attributes her success to those around her. “I really believe the success of this business has come from having such a strong team,” she says. “I do run the business and am very involved but I’m more like the director of a play.”

And the comparison is fitting. As an aspiring actress attending theatrical school in New York City, Elizabeth took a part-time job with a busy New York catering firm. “My days in New York were one of the most exciting times in my life,” she confesses, meeting celebrities like Cher, Bette Midler and many others.
