Riverside Theatre's Distinguished Lecturer Series returns for its 15th season.

When Robert Gates strides onto Riverside Theatre’s Stark stage the first Monday in February he will be greeted by more than a smattering of polite applause. With worldwide tensions accelerating at a rapid rate, those in the audience are sure to give the former U.S. Secretary of Defense a welcome worthy of his background and experience.

Gates, along with Cory A. Booker, Mayor of Newark, N.J., journalist-author Robin Wright and internationally recognized security expert Richard A. Clarke, are the featured speakers scheduled for the Distinguished Lecturer Series 2013 season. This celebrates the 15th year that speakers chosen from the ranks of government, academia, business and the media will offer their insight on topics of national and international importance, and we have Frannie Atchison and Debbi Peniston to thank. The two women not only founded the popular series, they established a relationship with Riverside Theatre and have continued to co-chair the committee that selects the speakers.
