A Treasure Under The Oaks

When Pat and Richard Burgoon first saw their future home on the Indian River Lagoon, it was the oaks that drew them to it. Situated on two lots, the house, besides being nestled among those great, old live oaks, has expansive views of the river.

Pat, who grew up in Pennsylvania, took to gardening at an early age. Her earliest recollection is when she planted some nasturtium seeds at the age of 8, and the ensuing awe she felt as they poked through the soil, continued to grow and finally bloomed. From that moment on, Pat’s parents were gifted with an in-house gardener. She did the cultivating, planting, weeding and hedge clipping until she left home. After marrying, and while she raised three children in Orlando, Pat continued to garden, now at her own home. It wasn’t until she moved to Vero Beach that she enlisted others to help her in her horticultural pursuits.
