A 300-lb. bronze mahi-mahi by acclaimed sculptor Phil Vanderlei is re-gifted to The Cause For Paws.

It began as a conversation among friends. Joanne Becker had just been presented with a bronze statue of a mahi-mahi from the studio of internationally acclaimed sculptor Phil Vanderlei in honor of her sponsorship of the Vero Beach Art Club’s Under The Oaks art show. In discussing her new acquisition with friend and event chairman Chris Pierce, and reflecting on her art-filled home, Joanne realized that if she donated the sculpture to the upcoming Cause For Paws auction, this gift could again raise funds for another worthy nonprofit, the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County. Valued at $5,000, this 300-lb. fish is truly a tribute to creative philanthropy.
