Tim Smick and Dan Simmons co-founded Harbor Retirement Associates in 2002. The company develops and manages independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing communities built on Christian values and industry expertise.
Ten years ago who would have thought Dan Simmons and Tim Smick would meet again, let alone form a partnership? Yet, today, they are the co-founders of Harbor Retirement Associates, LLC, a company headquartered in Vero Beach that specializes in the development and management of 17 senior lifestyle communities throughout Florida, Alabama, Michigan and South Carolina.
The two men met while associated with CNL Financial Group, a firm in Orlando that eventually moved into the senior housing market with Tim serving as a board member and Dan as an advisor. While both were familiar with Vero Beach, neither had ever considered calling it home or starting a new business here.
