April 14: Major League Baseball was the theme of the evening at the Salvation Army Benefit Dinner held at the Oak Harbor Club. Sixteen-time Gold Glove-winning, former MLB star Jim Kaat entertained the diners with memories of the 25 years he spent playing baseball, as well as inspirational stories from his philanthropic experiences with the Salvation Army.

A silent auction featuring autographed baseball bats, balls, jerseys and photos sponsored by the Major League Baseball Association in addition to pledges from anonymous donors combined to raise over $47,000.
The Salvation Army provides disaster relief, emergency response, rehabilitation, youth services and social work in Indian River County.
