If you’ve ever had a yearning to “get out of Dodge” without straying too far, you might want to amble over to the Kilted Mermaid for an unhurried, laidback evening of good food, good company and good entertainment. Opened in April 2011, this unique eatery is a self-described neighborhood craft beer and wine bar that has quickly become a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike.
“It doesn’t feel like you’re in Vero Beach anymore” is the oft-repeated compliment owners Rick Norry and Linda Moore hear. “Some people say it feels like Asheville, N.C., others cite Seattle or San Francisco,” says Rick. But no matter where you’re from, The Kilted Mermaid has captured a hip and happening vibe that seems to appeal to a wide demographic.
