Don’t Be Fooled By Old Gardeners’ Tales
Remember in kindergarten when your teacher lined up all the kids and whispered something into the ear of the first child in line who then whispered it to the second child and so on, until the last one recited what he or she heard? Usually it wasn’t even close to the original statement, was it? Well, old gardeners’ tales are like that: a half-truth or an old tradition passed along from one generation of gardeners to the next.
The end result is that we may have been using poor techniques that have no scientific basis. While not all garden lore has been proven invalid, many old myths are blithely passed along by today’s gardening experts.
