As I put this column to bed, it is early December and we have been having unusually cool weather as the wind has been steadily out of the north, which brings to mind one of the worst fears of Florida gardeners.  Freeze.

Many of you remember the horrible freeze that occurred in December, 1989, and left incredible devastation in home landscapes. While we have not had a freeze since that time, you may also remember that, during the decade of the ’80s, we experienced killing freezes most winters.  Weather experts have been saying that this year, now that we are not under the influence of either La Niña or El Niño, conditions could be ripe for a return of this devastating cold weather. With that in mind, a review of what to do might be in order.
