The Indian River County Historical Society is a non-profit organization chartered in 1984 to cooperate in the preservation, restoration and maintenance of the historical resources of Indian River County.

It’s easy to pass by the small yellow and gray building on 14th Avenue and not give it a second thought. But you really should, for inside what was once the passenger portion of the Vero Beach train station is well worth taking the time to see and, above all, appreciate.

Welcome to the Indian River County Historical Society, where displays, reference materials and a video make the past come alive again. The years melt away as you follow a model train along a panorama that takes you from the mammoth Macedonian era up through World War II and the arrival of the Dodgers. Books, maps, photographs and memorabilia mark the milestones of history, and we owe our thanks to those individuals who have made it possible for everyone to experience these miniature moments in time.

Their names are too numerous to mention, yet they all have a passion for the society’s mission to encourage continued education and cooperate in the preservation, restoration and maintenance of the historical resources of Indian River County.
