Chef Scott Varricchio opened Citrus Grillhouse in the Ocean Park Building at Humiston Park in March of 2010 – the same year that Florida Trend named it one of the best new restaurants in Florida.
Citrus Grillhouse is getting recognized – for its food, style and, of course, for its spectacular view.
Sure, its opening 18 months ago got the usual “newness” buzz from local diners. This was especially true because of its location in what was at the time a controversial multi-million-dollar building project at Humiston Park. The controversy died down, as most do in Vero Beach, and the decidedly grand Ocean Park commercial and residential building is finished and partially occupied. But the buzz surrounding the Citrus Grillhouse continues and its fame is spreading beyond Vero Beach.
During the past year Citrus Grillhouse was named one of the best new restaurants in the state by Florida Trend. And the readers of Florida Monthly voted it First Place: Best New Restaurant in Florida; Second Place: Best Overall Restaurant in Florida; and Third Place: Best Restaurant View.
Ah, the view! At the end of Easter Lily Lane on the first floor of the Ocean Park Building, the restaurant makes the most of its location and provides seating outside to accommodate as many diners as inside. Yet for all the panache of the view and the building, it is the simplicity and approachability of the food and the interior that is proving to be the winning combination.
