Cooking From the Heart

Cooking From the Heart

One of the things I have missed the most since moving here from England is fast access to a good Indian meal. Colonization and the resulting Indian diaspora led to an abundance of fine Indian stores and restaurants popping up in almost every town and village throughout the British Isles. A good masala or tasty samosa was never very hard to find.

Letting In The Light

Letting In The Light

Like many of our community’s residents, Gerry and Lorraine Taube of New Hampshire and New York originally resided in the North. When looking for a place to retire, they visited different areas of Florida, including Palm Beach Gardens, and ultimately decided they wanted to be on the East Coast. After visiting and attending their son’s wedding at Windsor, they fell in love with Vero Beach and decided on an extended stay.

Take The Plunge Into Poetry

Take The Plunge Into Poetry

Charlotte Terry remembers feeling some trepidation at the Laura (Riding) Jackson (LRJ) Foundation’s first Poetry & Barbeque in April 2010. “I worried nobody would come. So I was truly surprised when over 100 people arrived wanting to hear poetry,” says Terry, who still marvels at the full house – or tent in this case.

A True Tale With A Happy Ending

A True Tale With A Happy Ending

David Kilpatrick remembers sitting at the screening of Warner Brothers’ Dolphin Tale feeling at once like a proud professional and a wide-eyed child. The seasoned veterinarian who owns Southside Veterinary Hospital in Vero Beach and consults with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce is best known for his involvement in the rescue of the movie’s star, Winter, a bottlenose dolphin stranded in the Indian River Lagoon near Titusville, Fla. in 2005.
